While control centres are increasingly incorporating digital tools, particularly with the expanding train traffic worldwide, the role of humans remains essential. This is particularly true in case of crisis, where operators with different expertise need to collaborate to make critical decisions. We visited different control centres to observe how operators work, especially in crisis scenarios, and identify the limits of the current approaches.
