Motion of a Conducting Floating Object on Top of an Electrolyte Submitted to Lorentz Forces

Résumé

The motion of a conducting solid object floating on an electrolyte and propelled by the Lorentz force is modeled. The equations of motion of both the fluid and solid as well as the electromagnetic field are coupled. A friction model is given to find the motion of the floating object. Calculated results agree with our experimental data.
