Le rôle du patrimoine dans le développement des territoires et leur construction identitaire : les églises à pans de bois et le territoire du lac du Der en Champagne

Abstract : The development of heritage features is intented to enhance the attractiveness of tourism. It is an important step in a region where tourism plays a major role in economic development. The timber-framed churches were set up with the aim of expanding the tourist offer around the Der lake in Champagne. Although it has been widely promoted to tourists, the unrestricted nature of the visit does not provide concrete evidence of the efficiency of this tourist product. The object of the research is to analyze how timber-framed churches constitute a real element of tourist attraction and contribute to reinforce the image of the territory. The method of inquiry is based on the guest books of some buildings, interviews with tourism actors and a questionnaire with tourists. It seeks to account for the impact of the exposure of this heritage on the overall satisfaction of visitors and the dynamics of identity of the territory. This study is also concerned with the monitoring of the heritage process of buildings and presents some points of vigilance in this respect. More generally, it enables local decision-makers in the field of cultural tourism to draw on the experience of a heritage approach considered successful in order to reflect on the future tourist offer.
