L'hypnose et ses applications thérapeutiques à l'enfant et à l'adolescent

Abstract : Hypnosis, after having been abandoned at the beginning of the twentieth century, knows since several decades a renewal of favour both in medicine and in psychiatry, particularly in psychiatry of children and teenagers. Its indications concern numerous clinical situations, going from psycho-functional diseases to management of pains. But lack of convincing scientific explanation of its functioning, it keep a marginal practice which continues to arouse a lot of hesitation within the medical and psychiatric world. The author, leaning on her clinical experience of children's psychiatrist and supported by a specific formation, wanted in her thesis to present us this still too underestimated therapeutic tool. In a first part, the author presents a very completed historical inventory of this very old clinical practice and shows us a rich outline of current data of the research in neurophysiology and neurobiology to define the nature and try to understand how it works, between an altered states of consciousness and a role play with consent. In the second part, the author examines the possible applications to children in the paediatric (for example the pain) and psychopathological fields by insisting on its interest in some psychotherapies. She insists on the necessity of a method and rigorous ethics. She illustrates her presentation by some demonstrative clinical cases.
