Etude prospective du MALDITOF sur la caractérisation fongique

Abstract : Phytopathogenic fungi present a harmful aspect economically and environmentally. It is thus essential to develop tools in order to characterize and identify in a fast and reliable way. Thanks to the advent of molecular biology in the last few decades, great progress has been made in the identifying process of these fungi, by combining a morphologic method with a “barcoding” one. In spite of this, it is currently still difficult to discriminate between taxonomic ranks inferior to the species one. Mass spectrometry, and especially Maldi-Tof, is a technique frequently used for bacterial and yeast identification, but less so for fungal organisms. The aim of this study is to determine if the Maldi-Tof can be routinely used to identify photopathogenic fungi via a universal protocol, then to examine up to which taxonomic rank this technology can discriminate. In order to do so, we will use the Fusarium genus, a complex genus including many pathogenic species.
