Gestion du cerf, du chevreuil et du sanglier dans le territoire du futur Parc National des Forêts de Champagne et Bourgogne

Abstract : Following the "Grenelle de l'Environnement", the French government decided in 2009 to create a national park devoted to lowland hardwood forests in an area centered on the state forests of "Arc-en- Barrois" and "Auberive" in "Haute-Marne", and "Châtillon" in "Côte-d'Or". The Public Interest Group of foreshadowing of the future National Park « des Forêts de Champagne et Bourgogne » must plan a draft of hunting management leading in particular to control ungulates such as red deer (Cervus elaphus), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and wild boar (Sus scrofa). For this, we studied different criteria characterizing the management practiced in this territory. Then, from a literature review, we dealt with the terms of ungulate management in natural areas in France and Europe. Finally, we provide suggested improvements of this management at the local level, using the lessons learned from French and European sites. Firstly, we propose a harmonization of management between the two departments in order to gather, beyond the administrative boundaries, the various actors around a coherent management. A second proposition is based on improving data quality and the establishment of Indicators of Ecological Change to better reach for the agriculture, forestry and hunting balance. The last proposition relies on the control of artificial practices (feeding, electric and forest fences) and their future use in the territory. This study represents a first approach on the management of ungulates, but it should be supplemented by thinking on practice and organization of the hunting in this future protected and recreational space.
