Elaboration d’un rapport sur l’état des ressources génétiques forestières françaises : mise en place d’une rubrique internet « Forêt et climat »

Abstract : Regarding the contemporary context of global climate change, the genetic diversity is a necessity for forests adaptation to climate change. Thanks to their gene reservoir, trees will be able to survive, and adapt to the new conditions. It is necessary to do something to preserve, or even better grow this diversity. Knowing the urgency and the lack of information on this particular subject, the very first report on the state of the world’s forest genetic resources has been written by the FAO. This report presents the main alarming conclusions on the state of the RGF. What is the situation in France ? The report “The state of the France’s forest genetic resources” has been initiated by the French Ministry of Agriculture, food and forestry, to inform people and have a global view of the situation in France and in particular in its overseas territories. This report presents an overview of the diversity of ecosystems that can be found in France. It also makes an inventory of the different conversation types (in situ and ex situ) used in France. A specific chapter on reforestation explains how seeds are obtained in order to constitute forest stands with maximum diversity. The last part of this report outlines the threats that have an impact on forest genetic resources and lists the endangered and protected species.
