Vater- und Mentorfiguren bei Robert Walser. Dialog, Mimikry und Subversion

Abstract : The relation of numerous Walserian protagonists to their fathers or, more generally speaking, to attachment figures of (potentially) fatherly stature displays a multilayered ambiguity. While most of the sons reject the mimesis, i.e. a social integration copied on their fathers’, some « subversive fathers » appear as their sons’ models and dialogue partners but, as shall be shown (especially through an analysis of Jakob von Gunten), become in their turn victims of a subversive dissociation on the part of the sons.
