Abstract : This paper present a numerical simulation of the drag force for non-spherical particles using the commercial software ANSYS Fluent® V16.0. Drag force coefficient were obtained for non-spherical particle like a cylindrical disk with a sphericity factor of 0.23, particle orientation at 90° relative to the flow direction and 1 ≤ ≤ 300. In order to validate the numerical results, comparisons with the correlations presented by Haider & Levenspiel (1989) and Hölzer & Sommerfeld (2008) were performed. The maximum error of the Haider & Levenspiel's correlation formula can be up to 10%. Further works must be developed in order to obtain accurately correlation of hydrodynamics forces acting in disks.
