Drag, lift and torque coefficients for ellipsoidal particles

Abstract

In this work, we want to verify the ability of the CFD code Ansys Fluent© to give an accurate prediction of hydrodynamic forces acting on non-spherical (Ellipsoids). We focus the present study only on the drag and lift forces and also on the pitching torque. The objective is to choose or develop a model that will later be introduced in a Direct Numerical Simulation code coupled with a particles Lagrangian tracking in order to study the dispersion of nonspherical particles.
