Abstract
This potential project is aiming at registering the Woman-Mother-Child’s centre of Metz under the denomination Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI). The observational, descriptive and cross-sectional monocentric survey was conducted among 70 female patients at Woman-Mother-Child’s Hospital in Metz from January to May 2017. BFI is a label targeting perinatality care workers. This is granted at all maternity wards which encourage breastfeeding, support families as well as the establishment of the mother-child bond from birth. The label is awarded to institutions which follow the three principles and the twelve recommendations set by BFI. What are the practices which match these requisites ? The goal is to collect information the patients got about breastfeeding, newborn’s rhythms, as soon as they were pregnant. We carried out an epidemiological, observational, descriptive, analytical and cross-sectional monocentric study at the Woman-Mother-Child’s Hospital in Metz from January 16th, 2017 until May 2nd, 2017. Patients involved were breastfeeding, had already given birth and were hospitalised at the Woman-Mother-Child’s Hospital without being separated from their children. All the information were collected during interview sessions. 70 female patients questionned. 90% of them benefited from skin-to-skin contact, 77% were informed about advantages of breastfeeding, 68% of them addressed the subject during a consultation. 31% had never been informed about risks regarding breastfeeding pacifiers, 37% of them had never been told about breastfeeding’s support groups. The result based on the main criterion has demonstrated that the patients were not always informed in compliance with BFI’s recommendations. This study showed that nine BFI’s recommendations are not respected. Improvments are discussed in this document
L’IHAB est un label destinéaux professionnels de périnatalité Il est attribuéaux maternités soutenant l’allaitement maternel, l’accompagnement des familles et l’éta lissement lien mère-enfant dès la naissance. Le label est attribué aux établissements respectant les trois principes et 12 recommandations IHAB. Quelles sont les pratiques en vigueur à l’HFME correspondant aux recommandations IHAB ? Il s’agit de rechercher les informations reçues par les patientes sur l’allaitement maternel, les rythmes du nouveau-né, dès le début de grossesse. Nous avons réalisé une étude épidémiologique, observationnelle, descriptive, analytique, transversale monocentrique àl’HFME de Metz du 16 janvier au 2 mai 2017. Les patientes inclues ét ient allaitantes, ont accouché et étaient hospitalisé s à l’HFME sans sé aration de leur enfant. Les informations furent relevées lors d’entretiens. 70 patientes ont été inclues. 89% ont bénéficié du peau à peau, 77% étaient informées des bénéfices de l’allaitement maternel, 68% l’ont abordé en consultation. 31% n’avaient jamais été informées des risques de la sucette pour l’allaitement, 37% n’avaient jamais été informées de l’existence d’associations de soutien. Le résultat sur le critère principal montrait que les patientes n’étaient pas systématiquement informées conformément aux recommandations IHAB. Cette étude a montré que neuf recommandations IHAB ne sont pas respectées. Des perspectives d’amélioration sont apportées dans ce travail.
