152Ètetrakis(ra-hydroxyphenyl)chlorin (temoporfrn, m-TIjIpCl anil5,10,75,2ù tetrakis(m-hydroxyphenyl)bacteriochlorin (bacteriochloriry n-TIIPBC) was studied in ethanol-water (1t99, vlvl and in physiological medium (phosphate'buffered saline, PBS) with or without fetal calf serum (FCS). fl-THPC solution was iradiated with the laser radiation of 650 nm, whereas rz-THpBC solution underwent two consecutive iradiations at 532 and 550 nm. The photoproducts were characterized by lFV-visible absorption spectrophotometr5r and by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization MALDI) coupled with Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICRMS) Independent of the solvent used, the photokansformation of either photosensitizer lelded the formation of 5, ) through a naior dehydrogenation process.
