Mise en place d’un bioréacteur pour l’évaluation de la biocorrosion de matériaux en fonte

Abstract : The microbial influenced corrosion (MIC) is a phenomenon which affects several industries using iron materials in contact with aqueous phases subject to contain bacteria, such as soils where ductile cast iron pipes are buried. In order to predict and understand the phenomenon, we aim to reproduce the MIC in laboratory scale with several strains, their co-cultures and inocula from environments (soils, activated sludges) expected to cause a significant corrosion. Secondly, we designed an electrochemical reactor to quantify the biocorrosion. It was shown that the biocorrosion could be active without involving bacteria and also that co-cultures cause a more important corrosion than a culture monostrain culture. Moreover, some metabolic groups could be able to prevent the corrosion. In the future, the reactor can be applied to corrosion assessments of cast iron in presence of inocula provided by several kinds of soils.
