Incidence de l'automédication au 1er régiment d'infanterie de Sarrebourg : description et influence de l'activité régimentaire

Abstract : A work under the shape of a self-questionnaire was made to describe the incidence of the selfmedication within the 1st Infantry Regiment of Sarrebourg. The sex, the age, the rank, the level of study and experience as well as the regimental activity were analyzed to know their repercussion on the self-medication, by a descriptive and forward-looking study led over several periods between November 1st, 2010 and July 31st, 2011. The results show an incidence of the self-medication varying from 13,6% in a normal activity to 19,4% in OPEX. The significant increase of this incidence is correlated by the fact of being a woman, an officer and in OPEX. The main reason of recourse to the self-medication is the need of a fast relief, essentially for pains or serious headaches, treated by analgesic or AINS resulting of personal reserves. This study allowed to underline the interest of improving the medical care of the military people and to set up a sanitary education to prevent abuses of the self-medication. A generalization to the whole Army would allow a better approach of the self-medication in preventive medicine
