Influence des paysages agricoles sur les communautés végétales de berges en milieu ouvert prairial : compréhension des processus écologiques utiles en restauration écologique des ruisseaux

Abstract : Ecological restauration of headwater stream banks is today a major concern of river managers. Indeed, banks fulfill essential functions for conservation of streams quality. Yet, in context such as Sélune River, those functions are compromised by agriculture. These latter participated in landscape changes, it must ask what scale(s) influence the banks. Regarding herbaceous communities, this study highlighted riparian quality was function of regional and local determinants. Presence of grassland at the watershed and subwatershed scale, are involved in the conservation of biodiverse banks composed of species unusually encountered in these landscapes. At local scale, the riparian areas are mainly impacted by adjacent land use and their own management, particularly presence of fence which, according to the situation, protect, but can also lead to closing open habitats. This works highlight the importance of considering ecological restauration at the landscape scale and adapt local management to each situation. Thus, the manager’s job is to choose between bank reforestation or maintaining open areas, conciliating fence installation, management under the fences and extensive pasture in order to maintain riparian patchy habitat diversity.
