Sage-femme et femme périménopausée : un lien ? : enquête observationnelle descriptive auprès des sages-femmes libérales de Lorraine

Abstract : OBJECTIVE: The midwife is authorised to monitor gynaecological preventative healthcare of any healthy women; HPST law doesn't set any age limit. What about premenopausal women? METHOD: A multi-centre descriptive, observational study has been realized with a questionnaire by priva te practices in Lorraine. RESULTS: Premenopausal women represent about 10-20% of midwives' patient population. They were mostly consulting for perineum rehabilitation and increasingly for gynaecology monitoring. Midwives were trained and had good knowledge, however they thought it was not enough. Three quarters of them thought they had a role among premenopausal women. Half of them didn't feel confident with this population. CONCLUSION: Premenopausal women are part of midwives' practice population, and are consulting for various reasons. Although they are not satisfied by the quality of their training, midwives are including monitoring these women in their practice remit.
