Mise en place d'un observatoire général analysant l'évolution du patrimoine naturel en lien avec les pratiques agricoles

Abstract : The Natura 2000 network is a set of European natural sites identified for the rareness of their fauna, flora and their habitats. Although its first goal is to protect and preserve the environment, it does not create sanctuaries excluding all human activity. Alluvial grasslands of the Aisne valley are classified as Natura 2000 on an area of approximately 4242 ha. These grasslands contain interesting habitats, but also a remarkable flora and fauna. Since 2008, France, assisted by the European Union, introduced the Agri-Environment Schemes (AES) to limit the impact of agriculture on the environment. It is a contract between the farmer, who wishes to adopt practices that respect the environment, and the State, which compensate the farmer losses caused by the contracting of measurement. An observatory was conducted on this site, to assess biodiversity, specially the flora, on this area. With this observatory, we have begun to study the evolution of biodiversity between 2005, the year in which the first surveys were carried for the realization of the Objectives Document of the site, and 2012. The evolution of biodiversity has also been studied in more details in the prairies where farmers have contractualised AES, where it seems that it has improved, and grasslands in which no AES is contractualised, where no difference was detected.
