Mise en place d'un outil de sélection basé sur le comptage de cellules somatiques du lait (CCS) afin d'améliorer la résistance aux mammites des caprins laitiers

Abstract : The study focused on milk somatic cell counts (SCC): this measure has been identified as an accurate indirect method to predict subclinical mammary infections in dairy goats. The trait was the weighted lactation mean (LSCS) of cell scores adjusted for days in milk, where the SCS results from a logarithmic transformation of SCC. Heritability of LSCS was close to 0,20in Alpine breed and 0,21 in Saanen breed, and homogeny between breeds with a high repeatability in parity (0,45 in Alpine breed and 0,49 in Saanen breed). Estimations of genetic value (index) for this character show a progressive degradation (increase of SCC) in both breeds. Correlations with production were equal to zero, selection for productivity was not efficient, except for fat (0.10 in both breeds). These proofs were found to be favourable with some udder traits, as udder floor position (0.24 in Saanen breed and 0.26 in Alpine breed) which means that genetically higher udders tend to have lower SCC.
