SERVICE PUBLIC DE TRANSPORT TRANSNATIONAL ET COOPERATION INTERRÉGIONALE : ÉLÉMENTS DE RÉFLEXION À PROPOS DE CERTAINES ÎLES DE LA MÉDITERRANÉE OCCIDENTALE

Abstract : Services of transport tend more and more to be organized according to a logic of network. This logic is freed from the administrative borders and falls under a perception of the space necessarily extended and not partitioned. Consequently, the modern networks of transport cannot be considered within the narrow framework of States and administrative regions. Then, it is advisable to consider that the use of transport activities to organize territories requires an interregional cooperation. In the case of frontier areas, that cooperation must adopt an international aspect. In a complementary way, it is also advisable to consider principle of transport public utility in an international configuration. These questions are tackled in the context of certain islands of the Western Mediterranean Sea.
