Dynamique d'urbanisation et thermographies satellitaires en milieu méditerranéen : le cas du Grand Casablanca (Maroc)

Abstract : The diachronic study of the surface temperatures (Ts) taken during the warm season in anticyclonic radiative weather is carried out in the Casablanca metropolitan area using a series of infrared thermal multi-dates Landsat images over the 1984-2019 period. The thermographs obtained are then analyzed to assess the day and night thermal gradients within this coastal and densely populated area. The results obtained show the existence, at the end of the morning, of surface urban cool islands (UCIs) covering the cities of Casablanca and Mohammedia. At night, this UCIs turns into surface urban heat island (UHIs), the Ts being lower inland than those in the coastal conurbation. Moreover, over the 1984-2019 period, a good concordance between the spatio-temporal evolution of warm surfaces and that of urbanized spaces is established during the day.
