DES PARENTS « DÉFAILLANTS » : Un dispositif de soutien à la parentalité dans les Bouches-du-Rhône

Abstract : This article focuses on specific parental support mechanisms meant to fight school skipping in three northern districts of Marseille : parental training sessions. The territorialization of this public policy response actually targets the most precarious segments of the working class, which are also those most marginalized vis-à-vis school culture. Initiated by the first circuit court of Marseille, in collaboration with education professionals and social workers, this hybrid program draws on various references (educational lag, crime prevention, etc.) This article focuses both on the tensions that characterize a local version of parental support programs that tends to penalize “parental failure,” and on how the parents thus drawn into the judiciary arena experience this response.
