Utilisation de biomolécules à activité biocide élevée comme agents de préservation du bois : application à la rosine de Tall-Oil et application aux tropolones naturelles

Abstract : This study involves two distinct parts. The aim of this work was to used natural biocids for protect wood against attacks by fungi and termites. In the first part, we have studied the biocidal activity of a copper soaps with carboxylic acid groups of resin acids of rosin. This association was obtained by using a double impregnation system with water solutions of a mix rosine-NaOH first, and a CuSO[subscript4] solution second, the salt being then formed within timber. Copper exhibit good biocidal activities when used in wood preservatives formulations. However, it's a non fixing agent in the form of copper sulphate and can be easily leached. Association between copper and carboxilic acid groups of resin acids was able to prevent copper leaching and has shown a great durability of treated wood against Basidiomycetes and termites. The last part is devoted to the study of the ability of tropolone (specially thujaplicins), antimicrobial agents against a large number of fungi and bacteria, to proteet wood. The use of Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) callus and cell culture to produce tropolone was described. When cultuted in Gamgorg's medium supplemented with sucrose and elicited with yeast estract, calli and cell culture produced an interesting yield of thujaplicins. Natural tropolones were extract using ethyl acetate and impregnated into Sylvester pinewood. Extracts obtained from calli have a strong inhibitory effect against fun gal development. The termicide activity of tropolones was also studied. These results are extremely promising for the substitution of currently used chemical agents that are harmful to the environment.
