Comportement à la rupture des matériaux fragiles sous sollicitations dynamiques : Application sur le verre

Abstract : This thesis is a contribution of the study of fracture behaviour, in high rate deformation, a brittle material : GLASS. During this work, we have proceeded on examination of the fracture mechanisms of the float glass. Two aspects were approached : Fracture Mechanics under Notch : the coupling of specific experimental and numerical method has allowed, from a volumetric analysis of the brittle fracture process, to establish the influence of the pressure stress gradient in notch tip and to determine the of Notch Stress Intensity Factor in mode I (opening mode). The consideration of the inertial effect due to the dynamic loading is done by ORYNIACK'S model. Damage and Spalling by Bar Impact : the spalling by bars impact, due to the superposition of the relaxations waves, is a phenomenon of nucleation and growth of the damaged zone in the microscopic scale. The damage being generally defined by classic approach introduct by KACHANOV'S, we propose a simple formulation with physical bases. The parameters of this new damage model are based on experimental results and verified by numerical simulation with the finite elements method
