Nitruration ionique assistée plasma de l'inconel 690 : étude comparative des couches diffusées et des films minces obtenus par pulvérisation magnetron réactive

Abstract : Inconel 690 is a nickel-bsed alloy with a broad range of industrial applications. Despite its excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature performances, this material suffers from low wear resistance. The present work investigates in a comprehensive manner the low temperature plasma assisted nitriding (PAN) of this material. A review on the progress in PAN is made in the first chapter. The experimental setup and the related surface characterization techniques are presented in the second chapter. PAN of Inconel 690 is presented in the following chapters 3-5. X-ray diffraction, Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy, Sputtered Neutral Mass Spectrometry are used to characterize the nitrided samples. It is shown that the thickness of the nitriding layer is dependent on the grain orientation. Electron Backscatter Diffraction analysis technique was employed to establish a linear relationship between the local nitrided layer thickness and the minimum included angle defined by the <100> crystal directions and the diffusion direction. ln chapter 4, a model is proposed to interpret this new phenomenon based on stress-induced anisotropic diffusion during PAN. Corrosion resistance of the nitrided samples is described in chapter 5. ln chapter 6, a comparison is made between the metastable [gamma]N f.c.c. nitrogen solid solutions obtained by PAN and by reactive magnetron sputtering of Inconel 690 in Ar-N2 gag mixtures.
