Étude la regénération d'un charbon actif par le dioxyde de carbone supercritique : application au traitement des composés organiques volatils

Abstract : The principal objective of this work was to study a process of processing of the volatile organic compounds (COV) of the air. In a first step, the VOCs are adsorbed on activated carbon, then in a second step the adsorbent is regenerated using supercritical carbon dioxide. Our research work has been divided in two parts: -In a first part, adsorption isotherms of pure m-xylene and of pure toluene on activated carbon AC 40 were measured. Such experiments allowed us to obtain information on the temperature effect and on the effect of the adsorbate's nature. The experimental data were correlated with different models such as the Langmuir model, the Freundlich model, the Toth model and the Dubinin equation. In a second part, adsorption/desorption cycles of m-xylene by supercritical carbon dioxide allowed us to put in evidence that three key parameters : the flow rate, the pressure and the temperature had an influence in the desorption.
