Recherche et développement d'un procédé de photolithographie "offset"

Abstract : The aim of the present study was to develop an original process for the production of offset lithographic plates, based on chromium-plated steel rather than anodized aluminium. The INNOLITH Company project is an attempt at filling for the absence of a French production of offset plates on a large scale. Furthermore, a chromium-plated surface is superior to traditional anodized aluminium surface, in both copy accuracy and print features of the offset plate. The work, both therorical and experimental, was developed in laboratories for research (GRAPP-ENSIC) and for analysis (INNOLITH), as well as on the production line. It corresponds to studies related to the different elements to be considered for the making of an offset plate and its use in printing. These elements are the metal base with its surface treatment (cleaning, chromium plating, rugosity), the sub-layer and its role on both metal base hydrophilic behavior and adherence of resins, and finally the photosensitive coating (i.e. resins) which governs the copy time and the print features. The project was not totally concluded, in part because of the absence of a pilot step between the patented idea and the industrial production (process feasibility) , and also because of the lack of financial and available manpower to be able to define and control the parameters of interest
