Réplication optimiste et cohérence des données dans les environnements collaboratifs répartis

Abstract : Data sharing is a key problem in collaborative work. Data replication mecanisms maintain several copies of critical data. They ensure that all copies converge to the same value. In collaborative work, all copies must converge to a state including every updates that were done. Realtime groupware editors based on operational transformation approach (OT) call this, intention preservation. OT model relies on a transformation function which is able to serialize two concurrents updates. In this model, convergence is ensured if the transformation function satisfies two conditions C1 and C2 . Even if these conditions are well defined, it is hard to design such transformation functions. The first contribution of this dissertation is a formal approach to design and verify transformation functions for OT model. This approach relies on an automatic theorem prover. Using this approach, we show that all previously published functions are wrong. The second contribution is a new model (WOOT) that preserves intention et ensures convergence of copies for linear structures. This model is based on the monotonic computation of a linear extension of a partial order. The third and last contribution of this research is the SO6 configuration management tool. This tool, which is based on OT model, can be compared to a tool like CVS.
