Séparation et caractérisation des macéraux du charbon

Abstract : Macerals are organic matter from coal, characterized by the optical microscopic technique. They are separed in three groups called exinite, vitrinite and inertinite. We present herre on both a performant macerals separation technique and a spectroscopic characterization of isolated fractions. The use of separation by density gradient centrifugation (D.G.C) allows us to obtain suficient quantities of macerals fractions necessary for spectroscopic analyses as LAMMA microprobe, FT-IR, NMR 13C, EPR. The informations obtained are in good agreement with those published elsewhere. This study is particulary important in the field of coal conversion e.g pyrolysis. The coal grinding and the samples' densities determinations reveal their preponderance for the study of coal separation and reactivity. Lastly, we show the dramatic effect of oxidation on the coal thermoplastic properties
