La programmation et l'évaluation ergonomique d'un propotype d'audiométrie infantile automatisée

Abstract : The main subject of the present job is the planning and the ergonomic evaluation of a multimedial instrument called GAIA (Gestione Audiometria Infantile Automatizzata). GAIA is a system of vocal audiometry for children which is able to automate a battery of test for the evaluation of the ability of linguistic comprehension of impaired hearing children. The experimental component of the job is structured in two sessions of ergonomic evaluation : the session of heuristic evaluation and the evaluation on the job. The heuristic evaluation has involved a group of 5 experts who, after a short presentation of GAIA, have interacted with it for approximately an hour. Subsequently they have expressed the opinions on the prototype through a structured interview based on a questionnaire. The session of the evaluation on the job has involved two groups of 12 impaired hearing children of age between 5 and 16 years, with different degree of hypoacusy (medium, serious and deep), all with acoustic protesys. The children of the first group have interacted individually with the test of discrimination of GAIA, while those of the second group have individually interacted with the test Closed-Set. The results achieved highlight that the two methods of ergonomic evaluation have been demonstrated extremly complementary : they also have offered large potentialities, concurring different levels of analysis of the components of the system and producing a great amount of data of qualitative and quantitative nature. The future developments of the job will have to proceed, in the optical of the prototypal planning centered on the customer, with the realization of further versions of GAIA that will have to catch up the objective of an automated vocal audiometry, "user friendly", to satisfy the diagnostic and therapeutic requirements on the oral understanding of impaired hearing children.
