La psychanalyse sur le divan de la pragmatique

Abstract : Taking the observation of Widlocher and Hardy-Bayle (1990) (that is to say the lack of research on psychoanalytic communication) as my starting point, I will tackle this issue by using pieces of information taken from pragmatic linguistics and the analysis of conversations. Theoretical part: first, I will specify on the one hand, the psychotherapeutic situation as opposed to other types of institutionalized conversations and, on the other hand, the psychoanalytic setting as opposed to the other forms of therapies. Then, I will voice two hypotheses on what is at the root of the originality of psychoanalytic communication. The first one concerns the task of laying the speech act bare, which this scheme would induce. The second one aims at giving a cognitive content to the working-through process, thanks to the semantic and pragmatic signs which can be picked out from discursive exchanges. Empirical part: after giving an account of the various linguistic tools used to carry out a speech analysis of parts of psychotherapy sessions, I will present the four corpora which lead to a detailed analysis. I will then attempt to bring to the fore certain communicational phenomena which can be connected to the processes given as examples in the theoretical part of my outline.
