Les bryophytes aquatiques comme traceurs de la contamination métallique des eaux continentales : influence de différents paramètres sur l'accumulation des métaux et développement d'un module d'intégration de la micropollution (M.I.M.)

Abstract : The widespread occurence of aquatic bryophytes and their ability to accumulate metals make them useful as environmental monitors. The laboratory and field experiments performed in this work and the results reported in the literature enable a detailed description of the successive steps occured during the accumulation of trace metals by the aquatic moss to be proposed. In order to optimizised the ability of these organisms to reflect the mean water contamination level, a new methodology is developed. First, a mathematical model describing the exchange process of metals between mosses and water is proposed. Based on a previous laboratory experiment, the use of the model in field experiments provides a quantitative assessment of the dissolved metal concentration in the water. Secondly, an experimental pilot, which can be used in field studies, is developed. The system provided on one hand stable and reproductible physical conditions of exposure for the moss, and on other hand, a sufficient quantity of suspended matter for the determination of the particulate matter metal contamination. The suspended matter are obtained through a decantation system from which the first objective was to protect the organisms from abrasion and siltation
