Développement du procédé de formage de précision d'éléments de denture pour boîte de vitesses

Abstract : The present work constitutes a contribution to the analytical and physical simulation of the precision forging applied to the elaboration of straight spur gear. The estimation of forging force at the end of forming, closely with the degree of filling, was particularly treated. The physical approach, led on prototypes, has showed a good prediction of the material flow into the die. However, the force measurements at the end of filling, is quite fine because of the elastic behaviour of the material. The analytical approach was then developed. A first approach, in isothermal case, has consisted to develop an axial forming force modelisation in the end of filling which integrate the geometrical part criterion. But the estimations obtained have presented important gaps with the experiment. The weak thermo-mechanical, which took into account the overheating of the material and the friction at the part/die interface, has allowed to reduce these gaps. With this last approach, the modelisation results are in good agreement with our experiment. The microstructural aspects of part material, and their evolution during the forming, are also treated and has contributed to a better knowledge of the constitutive relationship of the material and an optimisation of the input of the modelisation. We have completed our work with a die lifetime modelisation according to the temperature and pressure applied on dies. In the industrial near net shape forming context, these modelisations are exploited as pre-study means in forming design. The application of the modelisation results has allowed to suggest some trends in die materials choices. We have proposed temprings at more elevated temperatures and superalloys for die materials. Within the context of the hot forming gear, the life time of the die has been multiplicated by a 10 factor
