« Trois aspects inattendus de la postérité des Synonyma d’Isidore de Séville : les prières, les textes hagiographiques et les collections canoniques »

Abstract : The Synonyma of Isidore of Seville enjoyed a great success during the Middle Ages, and this popularity is proved, in particular, by a very abundant literary posterity. The book, of ascetic content, was used principally in the moral and spiritual literature, but this article studies three other, unexpected, aspects of this posterity: the presence of the Synonyma in prayers, hagiographical texts and canonical collections. It also emphasizes the importance of indirect borrowings, which explains the exceptional diffusion of certain sentences of the work.
