Hydrophilic Ethylene-Glycol-Based Ruthenium Sensitizers for Aqueous Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Résumé

Three ruthenium complexes bearing glycol chains of varied length and number have been prepared and evaluated as hydrophilic sensitizers in aqueous dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) devices. The new complexes performed better than N719 in a 100% aqueous electrolyte. The use of co-adsorbents and particularly bis(4-methoxyphenyl)phosphinic acid (BMPP) improved the efficiency and short-circuit photocurrent.
