Abstract : This paper gives short notes on the electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs) design and modeling. The principle of the electromagnetic-acoustic transduction as well as the various EMATs structures are described, highlighting the important characteristics of each structure. Analytical models are given in global quantities in order to quantify the electromagnetic-acoustic transduction e¢ ciency. The numerical modeling of such structures is also addressed.
