Influences et trajectoire professionnelle : de l’enfance à l’entrée à la RTF (1928-1952)

Abstract : A graduate of IDHEC, Jean-Christophe Averty began his career at Radiodiffusion-télévision française (RTF) in 1952. The shows he directed cross several genres (documentary, variety, drama), in which he distinguished himself by his unprecedented graphic and narrative experimentations. Today he is known as the pioneer of televisual art, meaning writing with images. This article shines light on the influence of the period previous to his entry into television on his aesthetic choices, based on a series of interviews with Averty from 2011 to 2014. The article introduces the men with whom he worked and the literary and artistic currents which influenced him in order to recreate his personal and professional path, in the course of which were forged the ideas and directions that would define his career in television.
