Apport du morpho-TEP au F-Fluorodeoxyglucose dans la prise en charge des cancers du rein

Abstract : AIM AND METHODS: that retrospective study, performed on 48 patients suffering from renal carcinoma (10 studies in initial staging, 15 studies performed during follow-up, 8 studies for local recurrence, 11 for distal recurrence, and 4 for postchemotherapy assessment) allowed us to evaluate the impact of [[exponent 18] F]-FDG-PET-CT in the management of renal tumors.RESULTS: our study confirms literature data by suggesting that [[exponent] 18F]-FDG-PET-CT would have only a limited role in initial assessment because of a high incidence of false negative results. However, [[exponent 18] F]-FDG-PET-CT has a better specificity than conventional imaging, so that it remains interesting in litigious cases. [[exponent 18] F]-FDG-PET-CT is useful, beside conventional imagingby identifying recurrent and metastatic diseases, as efficiently as Computed Tomography.
