Syncopes vasoplégiques et lésion du sympathique cervical

Abstract : The observation of a patient who exhibits long vasodepressive syncopewith a Claude-Bernard-Horner syndrome and a laryngeus recurrens dexter nervehomolateral paralysis, due to a parapharyngeal space metastatic lesion, led tostudy the physiopathological mechanisms of the autonomie functions again. Themeans of exploring the autonomie functions have been described in this work. The pathologies ofthe parapharyngeal space have been listed. The clinicalappearances of the autonomie disorders have been identified as well. The mechanism of the persisting syncope exhibited by this patient differsfrom the glossopharyngeal neuralgia on one hand, and from the carotid sinussyndrome on the other hand : two entities described in the head and neckcancers. Our case emphasizes a third entity, with a parapharyngeal spacespecifie pathophysiology, leading to the parapharyngeal space lesions syncope-syndrome.
