La mémoire autobiographique et ses troubles dans la schizophrénie

Abstract : Autobiographical memory refers to memories of our past. Cognitive neuro-psychological research proposed different tools to assess personal memories and led to cogriitive models of autobiographical memory. Conway and Pleydell-Pearce (2000) put forward a model that brings together autobiographical memories and the autobiographical self. Recent functional neuroimaging studies have completed these models and describe the specific roles of several brain regions, particularly the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, during the recollection of personal rnemories. Recent studies show autobiographical memory impairments in schizophrenia : schizophrenie patients recall few speçific memories, recollection is associated with an impairment in conscious recollection. These deficits are more marked after the onset of the disease and depend on cognitive and mnesic deficits. Patients exhibit a disorganized reminiscence bump that could reflect their failure in consolidating a subjective identity. The study of autobiographical memory in schizophrenia offers a new understanding of the clinical symptoms of this disease.
