La réhabilitation respiratoire chez les patients atteints de bronchopneumopathie chronique obstructive : Intérêt d'un suivi par le test d'endurance

Abstract : Background : Respiratory rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary program of care, for patients with chronic respiratory impairment. The optimal way of assessing the impact of such program is still undefined. This study was aimed at evaluating the effect of an home-based setting rehabilitation program during one year in patients with chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) and the changing in the 6-minutes walking test (6MWT) and in the constant work rate cycle endurance test (CET) in comparision with a quality of life questionnaire.Methods : 329 patients with COPD were included. We studied the 153 patients that reached the one year follow-up. Patients were evaluated at baseline, 3,6 and 12 months by a pneumologist (with mesures of dyspnoea, pulmonary function tests, blood gas, 6M WT, and numbers of exacerbations) and at baseline, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months by a service provider at home (with CET at 75 % of peak work capacity, evaluation of health status using the Saint George's respiratory questionnaire, andevaluation of depression and anxiety using the Beek questionnaire).
