Investissements étrangers et développement : le cas du secteur de l'or au Mali

Abstract : Large-scale gold mining in Mali has had mixed results: gold has become the main export product and a significant source of foreign exchange flows and government revenue; it has, without doubt, compensated for the crisis in the cotton sector. But this operation model, generating very limited links with local businesses, offers little development potential if resources from the gold mining sector are not used to strengthen human and technological capital in the context of a diversification that could offer an alternative to gold mining in the long run.
