L'accompagnement de la personne laryngectomisée totale : création d’un site internet à destination des orthophonistes et de leurs patients

Abstract : Total laryngectomy is a mutilating surgery with heavy consequences. Indeed it has extreme and non-reversible physical and psychological consequences that disrupt the patient's life, and to which he now has to adapt. He is suddenly thrust into the unknown and is then particularly greedy for useful information for his everyday life self-reliance. Due to the frequency of the follow-up care, the speech therapist has a special relationship and a determining role, and he ensures the continuity of information given to the patient. Because of the trust granted to him, this professional in communication plays a large part in answering the patient's need of information. This spread of information is an integral part of the speech therapist's care. However it often represents an obstacle for the speech therapist who does not always possess information to share. Despite the existence of information supports dedicated to total laryngectomy, speech therapists and patients nonetheless still need information, which has consequences on the quality of the patient's care. In order to try and meet these needs, we decided to create an information tool, using new technologies, with the objective of optimizing the speech therapy of patients who have undergone total laryngectomy. First, we studied the relevance of an online tool as a source of information, through an inventory of available ressources on total laryngectomy, an analysis of the benefits of the Internet as an information support, then we interviewed speech therapists and patients in order to validate the relevance of using such a tool. Then, we developed the website and ensured it met speech therapists and patients' need of information. Finally, we experimented this equipment on a specific population. At the end of this work, the theoretical elements and the experimentation proved that the website as an informative tool allows to optimize the care of the patient who has undergone total laryngectomy, whether it is by an independent use, or guided by the speech therapist during a session. However, to confirm the validity of our assumptions, it would be beneficial to have the website tested on a larger sample of speech therapists and patients.
