Needle, le monde universitaire peut-il expérimenter et incuber une autre infomédiation ?

Abstract : In position of coordinating the partnership between the Université de Lorraine and the news website The Conversation France, we have been concerned with the way our university assumes its social responsibility. From a sustainable development point of view, we found that the notion of footprint was the best way to describe the exigence of reflexivity our universities had to face when they’re dealing with actors from the digital environment. Digital footprint differs from digital traces : it’s not only a way to allow somebody to read what we have done, but a way to read it for ourselves. The notion of footprint encompass the triad of clue – inscription – trace in a reflexive objectivation. The examples of Google or Facebook show that the universities footprint can go as far as incubating breakthrough innovations and as having a global impact. Following this idea, we imagined a contributive web browsing service : needle. The development and the experimentation of this service are supported by the Université de Lorraine. We’re going to expose the origins of this project and demonstrate the prototype in order to discuss the heuristic interests of such a way to mixing scientific procedure and ambition of changing the World.
