Updating the inventory of sensitive natural areas of the Meuse

Abstract : The Sensitive Natural Areas (SNAs) are a tool, in the centre of the environmental policies of the General Councils, to protect the natural environment and enhance the natural heritage of each department. The Meuse, offering a unique biodiversity, initiated in 1994 the creation of a departmental inventory of ENS. In 2013, the General Council has introduced its new departmental policy for ENS. It is in the context of the new policy that was given to me for my internship, the task of updating the SNAs « orchard » and « marshland ». This update has been, firstly, to update data SNAs dating from 1994 and a second time to include new sites to the inventory of SNAs. Then, two methodologies, argued and costed to refresh the entire inventory of SNAs have been defined. They will enable the Department to choose the most appropriate way to update their inventory in method, time and cost.
