L’essor des films de silice mésoporeuse en électrochimie

Abstract : Ordered mesoporous silica films exhibiting vertically-aligned nanopore channels can be obtained by combining sol-gel chemistry, surfactant physico-chemical properties and electrode polarization, according to an electrochemically induced self-assembly mechanism. The method is based on the application of a cathodic potential likely to organize transient hemi-micelles of cationic surfactant onto the electrode surface and to induce simultaneously a pH increase inducing the polycondensation of silica precursors around the surfactant template at the electrode/solution interface, generating thereby the vertical growth of a mesoporous film. One can also combine this approach with “click chemistry” in order to generate functionalized mesoporous silica films with well-defined properties, giving rise to nanoscale reactors bearing a high number of easily accessible organofunctional groups. The accurate control of orientation and the versatility of the functionalization process open new avenues in applied fields such as sensors, semi-permeable membranes and nanotechnologies.
