De la Royale à l’Action française : l’amiral Antoine Schwérer (1862-1936), un engagement intégral

Abstract : A Breton of Alsatian origin, Vice-admiral Antoine Schwérer (1862-1936) was a participant in the controversy surrounding the “Jeune école”. He was later commander of gunboats in action in 1915 and the closest adviser to a great Naval Minister, Rear Admiral Lacaze (1915-1917). In a second life he became a militant supporter of Action Française, the presidency of which he took in 1930 and within which he fought ardently against the Papal condemnation of 1926.
