This contribution proposes to clarify, using an analysis of the speech, the representations in the post-totalitarian Rumanian press of Danubian Souabes emigrated and colonized in Banat as of the 18th century by the Habsbourgs, and those of the cultural exchanges created between this community and the existing alien populations on the spot, fruit of their three centuries old presence on this territory. We pose as postulate that bilingualism and the biculturalism of society (and even, in this specific context of Banat, old Austrian province populated by a true ethnosociolinguistic mosaic, plurilingualism and pluriculturalism) seems the first aspect of the intercultural relations committed in the area, by the force of a co-existence/co-dwelling. It will be precisely this aspect which will constitute, initially, the object of our present analysis. Jointly, this special linguistic and cultural profile for social actors of Banat, and of Danubian Souabes in particular will incarnate itself, much more often than it is thought, in what one called, in cultural psychology, an “identity fluidity”, even a “migratory identity”, or a famous “open identity” (Abdallah-Pretceille). We will propose here a lighting of it through the prism of the concept of the “cultural transfer” (Espagne), even the “transfer identity”, such as it appears in the studied press articles.
