The therapeutic alliance with the borderline patient
L’alliance thérapeutique avec le patient borderline
Résumé
The borderline patient is often described as presenting particular difficulties in psychotherapy. An understanding of the origins of the borderline patient's relational strategies and behaviours, as well as an awareness of one's own relational functioning, can help therapists to avoid pitfalls and strengthen the therapeutic alliance, which is key to successful treatment.
