Etude exploratoire du processus de familiarisation à l'usage d'exosquelettes assistant le dos : caractérisation des déterminants moteurs et biomécaniques

Abstract : Few data are available on the duration of task training and the use of the exoskeleton prior the evaluation. However, the motor learning associated with this period could prove to be essential upstream of any evaluation. Unfortunately, we would risk only evaluating the transient effects associated with their use. This study aimed to determine whether training to the use of these technologies allowed to observe a stage of familiarization and to determine which parameters were most relevant in its evaluation. Seven men and seven women volunteered to participate in five training sessions, in which they had to perform three assessment tasks involving trunk flexion / extension with three back support exoskeletons. For one task, performance changed significantly (p <0.05) and stabilized before the last session for all exoskeletons. For another task, the knee range of motion in flexion / extension decreased significantly (p <0.01) from the third session and then stabilized regardless of the exoskeleton used. It therefore appears that some parameters make it possible to objectify a stage of familiarization during a training phase. Thus, not including training in the experimental protocol, prior to evaluating the use of exoskeletons, amounts to evaluating only transient effects and not the motor adaptations induced by these technologies. In company, it therefore appears necessary to have a learning time with exoskeletons before using them in place in real working conditions.
