Nouveau traitement de surface du zinc par des acides organiques d'origine végétale : la carboxylation

Abstract : The project carried out for several years at the laboratoire de chimie du solide minéral is related to the development of a green conversion treatment of steel sheet covered with zinc. The process of carboxylating is based on fatty acids extracted from vegetable oil. The conversion layer has to protect zinc against corrosion and to allow a surface functionnalisation in order to improve the ability of forming and/or receiving an organic coating. The efficiency having been demonstrated for linear and saturated fatty acids with seven and ten carbon atoms, coatings obtained with carboxylic acids from seven to eighteen carbon atoms were compared. These products being insoluble in water, further solubilization methods were used (solvent, surfactant) and the effect of several operational parameters was studied. In order to to increase the corrosion resistance, deposit with mixed zinc carboxylate were elaborated.
